Job summary

Visionworks in Plattsburgh, NY seeks a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for exams, performing pre-exam tests, and guiding them through onsite and remote visits.

The role involves coordinating with Optometrists, explaining procedures, documenting results in EMR, and assisting with insurance preauthorizations. Travel between stores may be required.

Qualifications

• One year of related optical/healthcare experience required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent required; training provided.
• Healthcare professionalism and medical office experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations and document results.
• Explain preliminary testing steps to patients and record data in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams, including pre-testing and documenting results.
• Coordinate with retail staff to schedule exams and manage bookings.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOPs and inform patients of plan benefits.
