Job summary

ECU Health Medical Center in North Carolina seeks a clinical supervisor for hospital services who ensures age-appropriate care and serves as in-house administrator communicating issues to hospital leadership.

The role covers program planning, human resources, financial management, quality assurance and staff development, plus collaboration with medical staff, hospital departments and external agencies. Full-time position with 36 hours per week and 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• BSN or higher required.
• Unrestricted NC RN license required or licensure in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state.
• American Heart Association BLS is required.
• 3–5 years of clinical experience is required.
• Progressive leadership experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patient.
• Assesses, intervenes in and evaluates department clinical needs by rounding throughout clinical areas.
• Assists clinical team with emergent and urgent clinical situations.
• Initiates, monitors and/or participates in program development, implementation, evaluation and revisions.
• Promotes public relations to increase customer awareness of services provided.
• Acts on behalf of the Hospital administrative staff to coordinate hospital services by making decisions that positively impact patient care.
• Has the autotomy to implement decisions that are made and is the final authority in the hospital during the absence of the unit managers and administration.
• Facilitate the implementation of the external/internal disaster plan and other emergency situations.
• Counsels, supports, and mentor unit staff with decision making and strategizing how to best provide care to current and potential patients.
• Coordinates with Resource, Charge and/or staff nurses or other health care providers in the supervising of staff.
• Utilize workload data to justify and adjust staffing needs.
• Adhere to regulatory, legal and organizational requirements related to personnel management.
• Initiates immediate disciplinary action as appropriate with proper documentation.
