Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin seeks an experienced Clinical Nursing Supervisor to support departmental administration and collaborate with the unit Director/Manager. The role may assume administrative scope during the absence of leadership, developing plans and ensuring regulatory compliance.

They will oversee staff orientation, communicate with staff and physicians, and ensure quality and efficient unit operations, while providing direct patient care as needed within the scope of practice.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
• BSN preferred.
• ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• PALS certificate and/or ENPC required within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, ED setting preferred.
• TNCC certificate within 12 months of hire and CEN within 2 years of hire, preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports administrative responsibility for department service functions and collaborates with unit Director/Manager.
• May assume administrative scope in the absence of leadership.
• Develops and implements departmental plans including performance improvement and regulatory compliance.
• Oversees orientation and training of personnel.
• Communicates with staff, physicians and administration in writing and verbally.
• Responsible for quality of staff and functions during the shift.
• Directs, supervises and evaluates personnel to ensure efficient department operations.
• Performs direct patient care as needed within scope of practice and directs staff to adjust care plans.
