Job summary

Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA is seeking an experienced RN leader to collaborate with the leadership team, oversee nursing department operations, and serve as a role model for staff. You will mentor, coordinate staffing, and drive high-quality patient care across units.

You will coordinate staffing for assigned departments, participate in bed management, and promote safety and continuous improvement while pursuing leadership development through Guthrie's programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years RN experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and effective communication preferred.
• Experience in high-acuity settings with strong clinical judgment.
• Certification within area of expertise or practice preferred (Nursing Management, CCRN, CEN, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients and families, promoting satisfaction and timely communication.
• Maintain a visible presence to patients, families and staff.
• Initiate, coordinate, and oversee staffing for assigned departments using guidelines.
• Lead staffing huddles with nursing leadership and adjust staffing for safety.
• Prioritize patient safety in staffing decisions and resolve conflicts.
• Act as a financial steward by identifying waste and adjusting staffing as needed.
• Collaborate with Pulse Center to support bed management and transfers.
• Prioritize condition, needs, risks; assist with bed placement.
• Round on units to assess operational needs and barriers to care.
• Facilitate timely discharges and efficient patient throughput.
• Lead investigations on patient safety events and operational issues.
• Promote quality and safety by reinforcing best practices and policies.
• Build relationships with staff and patients; mentor staff for accountability.
• Assume patient care assignment when needed.
• Perform other duties to support hospital operations and patient care.
