Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a Clinical Nurse for UMMS Staffing. This role deploys to clinical units as needed, following the Maryland Nurse Practice Act and organizational policies, delivering safe, evidence-based nursing care across inpatient and ambulatory settings.

The USC RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary team and participates in quality and safety initiatives while maintaining licensure, certifications, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Current and active Maryland RN license or eligibility through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS, and other unit-specific certifications may be required depending on assignment.
• Minimum of two years of recent acute care nursing experience within the past 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care appropriate to the patient population and unit acuity.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, implement interventions, and document in the EMR.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team for safety and quality of care.
• Safely administer medications and use clinical equipment per policy and competency.
• Delegate and supervise nursing care activities consistent with the Nurse Practice Act and competencies.
• Maintain professionalism and effective communication when transitioning between units.
• Adhere to evidence-based practice and regulatory standards to promote safety and quality.
• Identify and report patient safety risks, adverse events, and near misses.
• Support unit operations and staffing needs, including charge nurse roles as needed.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Education

Bachelor's degree in nursing
