Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the UMMS Staffing (USC) program. The RN will provide safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered care across inpatient, procedural, surgical, and ambulatory settings while deployed to units based on need and validated competencies.

You must hold a Maryland RN license, BLS, and a BSN, with at least two years of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Maryland or eligibility through Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care appropriate to the patient population and acuity of the assigned unit.
• Independently performs comprehensive patient assessments, implements nursing and medical interventions, evaluates patient responses, and documents care in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborates with patients, families, charge nurses, nurse managers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity, safety, and quality of care.
• Safely administers medications and utilizes clinical equipment and technology in accordance with policy and validated competency.
• Delegates and supervises nursing care activities consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, organizational policy, and individual competency levels.
• Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and effective communication when transitioning between units and clinical settings.
• Adheres to evidence-based practice, regulatory standards, and organizational policies to promote patient safety and quality outcomes.
• Identifies, reports, and takes appropriate action related to patient safety risks, adverse events, and near misses.
• Participates in quality improvement, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives as applicable.
• Maintains current RN licensure, required certifications, and validated competencies necessary for assigned clinical settings.
• Completes all required organizational, regulatory, and annual education.
• Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competence.
