Job summary

Labcorp in Burlington, NC seeks a Technologist trainee to join our team. The role supports testing workflows with a Sunday-Thursday 08:00am - 04:30pm schedule, focusing on specimen qualification and high-volume lab operations.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science and offers opportunities for growth in clinical laboratory science. ASCP/AMT certification is preferred, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• In lieu of education, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits may meet education requirements.
• Understanding of laboratory operations and policies.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
