Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform rooming tasks, vital signs, history taking, screenings and medication reconciliation. You will assist providers with procedures and administer vaccines as ordered, while handling lab duties including venipuncture and POCT per standing orders.

The role emphasizes patient communication, safety, and collaboration with the care team. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military clinical training in lieu of formal medical assistant program.
• Two years of verifiable full-time Medical Assistant experience within last 5 years (for certain divisions).
• Current BLS certification for some divisions.
• CMA/RMA or equivalent certification from recognized bodies preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming/visit tasks including vitals, med reconciliation, history and screenings.
• Assist provider with procedures and administer medications/vaccines.
• Handle lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, and POCT per orders.
• Ensure patient safety and effective communication with the team.
• Maintain clean and stocked work areas and equipment.
• Support training of new teammates and participate in committees when assigned.
