Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in a primary care setting in Topeka, KS. You will collect data, measure vital signs, coordinate tests and services, and perform point-of-care testing and phlebotomy as directed.

You will work under supervision to maintain efficient workflows, ensuring patient-centered care and a safe, clean environment. Non-exempt, 40 hours per week, first shift.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of first semester in an accredited nursing program or completion of a medical assistant or patient care technician program.
• A certified clinical medical assistant, certified medical assistant, registered medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, EMT, or patient care technician certification may substitute for education requirements.
• Experience in an office or clinic setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implements identified plan through coordination of care with interdisciplinary care team to promote health and wellness.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to achieve expected outcomes.
• Communicates pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting in a timely manner.
• Promotes infection prevention through standard precautions, dressing changes, wound care, hand hygiene, and patient room cleanliness.
• Assists with activities of daily living, measures and records weight, height, and vital signs, and reports changes to the nurse.
