Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate OR 1–3 years experience as a medical assistant, emergency medical technician, or certified nursing attendant (with valid certificate) OR successful completion of the Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans.
• Performs vital signs, height/weight, and screening tests; records findings in the medical record.
• Collects specimens and assists with specimen collection per standard procedures.
• Performs daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment as needed; reports inaccuracies.
• Conducts electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per provider orders; follows infection control standards.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures and exams following protocols; prepares supplies and positions patient.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of examination rooms; stocks supplies and completes required logs.
• May assist with pre-visit chart preparation to ensure lab results are available in the medical record.
• Performs various clerical duties to ensure smooth patient flow and processing of records and forms.
