Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care across multiple settings in Greater Charlotte areas. You will perform routine clinical tasks, room patients, and assist physicians with procedures while ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation.

The role requires hospital-based competencies, a completed Medical Assistant program, and a valid BLS. Experience with lab duties such as venipuncture and CLIA-waived testing is expected.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of POCT and CLIA waivered testing.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and hospital policies; maintains competency as per specialty.
• Performs rooming tasks including vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history and screenings.
• Assists providers with procedures and may perform tasks as ordered.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling, lab orders and results tracking; conducts CLIA-waived tests as required.
• Administers medications and vaccines following the rights of medication administration.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling, messaging and referrals as assigned.
• Maintains clean, stocked work areas and ensures equipment is in working order.
• May assist with training onboarding of teammates; may serve on committees.
• Delivers age-appropriate care according to department policies and patient growth/development.
