Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care and clinic operations. You will perform vital signs, intake and rooming tasks, assist with procedures, and manage lab duties under physician supervision.

You will also handle meds and vaccines, referrals, scheduling, and patient communications while maintaining a clean, organized work area and accurate records. Experience not strictly required, but relevant training and BLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or DD214 clinical training in lieu.
• Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program or 2 years verifiable MA experience in last 5 years.
• Current BLS certification where required by division.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, history, screenings and med reconciliation.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen processing, POCT, and CLIA tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following safety principles.
• Handles patient messaging, referrals, scheduling, and approvals as assigned.
• Cross-trained for specialty duties and ensures equipment is stocked and clean.
• Communicates effectively within the team and escalates appropriately.
