Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in ambulatory care under physician or nurse supervision. The role may float to other sites within the system and requires strong patient‑care and safety practices.

Primary duties include assisting with exams and minor procedures, documenting in EMR, coordinating with the care team, and supporting patient education and screening activities.

Qualifications

• Clinical competency within 90-day orientation and annually thereafter.
• Excellent customer service/patient interaction skills.
• Basic computer skills and EMR navigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers with patient preparation for exams and minor procedures.
• Maintains optimal patient flow and supports the clinical care team.
• Documents activities in the EMR accurately and timely.
• Participates in daily team huddles and patient screenings.
• Performs select patient and laboratory testing as allowed by scope of practice.
