Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under physician/provider supervision. Responsibilities include venipuncture, vaccine administration, vital signs, and assisting with patient exams, while maintaining EMR documentation and providing clerical support.

The role may float to other sites within the system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• CMA or RMA certification required within 12 months of hire.
• CPR certification (BLS/NRP) required within 90 days.
• Externship or prior ambulatory care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient exams and minor procedures and support care team workflow.
• Document clinical activities accurately in the EMR and coordinate follow-up as needed.
• Perform venipuncture, vaccines, and point-of-care testing per site requirements.
• Float to other sites within the system as needed and participate in regular staff meetings and safety training.
• Provide telephone screening and clerical support to ensure efficient patient flow.
