Job summary

Qualifications

• Successfully completed first semester in an accredited nursing program.
• Completed a medical assistant or patient care technician program.
• An active certification (CMA, CMA, CMA, CNA, EMT or PCT) may substitute for education.
• Experience in an office or clinic setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of patient care techniques and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Admit patients to exam rooms for office visits and procedures, assisting providers.
• Retrieve voicemails, document medical information in electronic forms, and maintain patient records.
• Coordinate patient services: labs, X-rays, tests, home care, and admissions; schedule appointments.
• Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and benefit investigations.
• Perform point-of-care testing and phlebotomy as indicated by area.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and rooms; restock as needed.
• Meet patient needs in the department and ensure confidentiality of information.
• Apply proper sterile technique for dressing changes and wound care.
• Process requisitions for housekeeping and supplies; ensure adequate par levels.
