Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support the Ambulatory Float Pool. Under the direction of licensed clinicians, you will provide clinical care and perform clerical duties to support office/clinic functions.

You will receive workplace education and training to assist providers and the healthcare team in patient care, with emphasis on vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and chart documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• MA credential approved by MA Department of Health required.
• BLS/HeartSaver certification required or obtained within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients, record vital signs and health data.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and POC tests per standards.
• Prepare and administer injections within scope of practice.
• Assist with routine examinations and chart documentation.
• Verify insurance coverage and process co-payments as needed.
• Maintain supplies and clean/sterilize equipment per protocol.
