Job summary

UMass Memorial Health seeks a Medical Assistant II to support ambulatory clinics in a float pool. You will assist providers, document vitals, perform EKGs and phlebotomy, and help manage patient flow in a fast-paced setting.

Under supervision, you will handle clerical duties, data entry in the EMR, and basic patient care tasks, with a possible signing bonus. The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS/Heart Saver certification from the American Heart Association, obtained within 3 months if not on hire.
• MA credential approved by Massachusetts Department of Health within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy and point-of-care tests per standards.
• Prepare, document and administer non-intravenous injections as directed.
• Assist with routine physical examinations and clinical procedures.
• Maintain charts and enter data in the EMR; process prescriptions/refills as directed.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
• Collect co-payments and manage clinic supplies.
