Job summary

Advocate Health Care seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinicians in delivering high-quality care to ambulatory patients. You will help patients transition into the provider’s office and perform vital clinical tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Key duties include taking medical histories, assisting with examinations, measuring vital signs, administering vaccines, and documenting information in the EHR. Travel to multiple sites may be required; CPR certification is needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of medical assistant experience within the last five years.
• Good communications skills; comfortable using a keyboard and computers.
• Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
• Current AHA CPR certification.
• Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed.
• Ability to work in stressful conditions and difficult situations.
• Resilient and flexible in a changing environment.
• Ability to cooperate and work with others.
• Ability to make sound and timely decisions and rotate shifts.
• Ability to lift/transfer patients up to 35 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and clinicians with clinical duties including taking medical histories and examinations.
• Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, and clinicians.
• Measure patients' vital signs.
• Prepare and administer vaccines/medications.
• Document patient information into the electronic health record (EHR).
• Collect specimens for testing.
