Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a medical assistant program or at least one year of medical assistant or equivalent experience.
• Good communications skills; experience using a keyboard and computers.
• Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
• Current AHA CPR certification; Medical Assistant Certification/Registration preferred; non-certified MAs must obtain certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for patient visit by chart preparation and manages patient flow per AMG policies.
• Performs tests/procedures as ordered; maintains test tracking log; communicates results.
• Collects specimens with correct patient identification and labeling; maintains CLIA-compliant quality logs.
• Administers medications as ordered and coordinates medication refills with pharmacies.
• Documents chief complaint, vital signs, immunizations, medications, history, procedures and messages for quality care.
• Distributes patient education and discharge instructions; directs patient questions to provider.
• Assists patients in obtaining additional services prior to leaving the office; coordinates with other providers for continuity of care.
• Documents all patient communications in the medical record.
