Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree and/or MA certification preferred.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program or previous MA experience required.
• 2 to 5 years MA or relevant experience preferred across care settings.
• Excellent computer skills in Outlook/Excel/EMR and scheduling systems.
• Strong verbal and social skills; patient, physician, and staff interaction.
• Willingness to travel to other physician offices as needed.
• Clinical skills such as phlebotomy, EKG, stitches removal, and splinting are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examination and treatment under physician direction.
• Maintain patient flow and document review of systems and vital signs.
• Update medical history and medication lists; record in EMR.
• Prepare patient charts in EMR; obtain necessary records.
• Refill medications and pre-authorize prescriptions; communicate with patients, pharmacies, insurers.
• Prepare treatment rooms and manage supplies; perform pre-certifications as needed.
• Obtain medical information from patients to aid medical decision making.
• Answer calls, schedule appointments, check-in/out patients, and manage MyChart messages.
• Operate EKG monitors and other equipment; perform phlebotomy as assigned.
• Ensure safe, secure environment and protect patient confidentiality; adhere to laws.
• Support quality measures and patient experience.
