Job summary

Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC is seeking a Lead Registered Nurse to oversee nursing services across health centers in the DC metro area. This role combines direct patient care with clinical leadership and collaboration with the Co-Director of Clinical Services to ensure staffing and coordination align with quality standards.

The position requires travel across DC, MD, and VA to cover shifts, mentor staff, and assist in administrative duties, with a focus on safe abortion care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• BSN preferred.
• Active RN license with ability to practice in DC, MD, and VA.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Ambulatory surgical or abortion experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to nursing services as a team lead and assist center management with daily operations.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to nursing staff.
• Maintain nursing supplies, equipment, and medications across health centers.
• Deliver safe, compassionate patient care in abortion services with sedation and emergency protocols.
• Triage emergencies and implement emergency protocols; coordinate transfers as needed.
• Perform ultrasounds for gestational dating and document in EMR.
• Educate patients on post-procedure care and contraception counseling.
• Support clinic flow, cleanliness, and readiness; participate in ongoing learning.
