Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of a medical technologist for a specific laboratory area or rotates in all sections as needed.
• Follows strict asepsis and antisepsis principles and uses proper techniques and equipment.
• Ensures proper functioning, maintenance, and cleanliness of equipment and work area.
• Performs tests and procedures as ordered according to procedure manuals.
• Verifies specimens were collected, transported, labeled, and preserved correctly 100% of the time.
• Records, reports, and posts test results as required, meeting established standards.
• Performs quality control using established protocols.
• Adheres to hospital policies and accreditation requirements and maintains required records.
• Participates in training of new technologists and trainees.
