Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Lab Tech (ASCP/HEW certified) for the day shift, 36 hours per week, with rotating weekends and holidays. The role involves performing laboratory tests, quality control, maintenance, and data handling in a busy clinical lab.

Qualifications include a 2-year Medical Lab Technician program or associate degree, MLT (ASCP) license, and at least six months in a laboratory environment. Proficiency with analyzers and computers is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures in assigned areas.
• Assess and report acceptable results. Troubleshoot and document problems and out-of-control results to level of capability.
• Perform and document routine and monthly maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
• Maintain inventory sheets in assigned areas and notify coordinator of needs.
• Assist in training students and new employees.
• Operate computer including all routines dealing with patient data and quality control.
• Perform phlebotomies as requested.
• Maintain laboratory work areas in a clean and safe manner.
