Job summary

Reid Health in Indiana seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform high and moderate complexity laboratory procedures under supervision. The role is 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.

The MLT will log specimens, admit patients, perform analyses, handle results, and assist in QA activities. The candidate should have an Associate degree for MLT eligibility, with Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Education Required: Associate degree from a Medical Laboratory Technician program or other degree and experience that makes the employee eligible for MLT certification.
• Education Preferred: Bachelor of Science in biological, chemical or physical science.
• Experience Required: None
• Experience Preferred: Completion of a Clinical Laboratory internship.

Responsibilities

• Documents verbal orders for laboratory tests and logs specimens into LIS.
• Admits patients in LIS and logs tests and specimens.
• Performs analyses according to procedures and maintains turnaround times.
• Verifies correct patient results and documents QC and critical values.
• Maintains a clean work area and assists in supervision in absence of lead tech.
• Coordinates staff training and participates in QA/QA&I activities.
