Job summary

Southern-California-Hospital is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform standardized and specialized analyses in Chemistry, Immunology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology and/or Blood Bank. Qualifications

• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science/Biological Science or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across Chemistry, Immunology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology and/or Blood Bank.
• Ensure accuracy, reliability and timeliness of patient test results.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document calibrations and maintenance.
• Participate in process improvements and adhere to turnaround times for STAT and routine tests.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and infection control standards.
• Communicate empathetically with patients and families and support teams.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance and report to leadership.
• Properly handle and dispose of specimens, reagents, and biohazard waste.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
