Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a lab science or closely related field or equivalent education and experience per CLIA standards.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and determine solutions, reagents and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures; may prepare variations of same for special tests.
• Perform complex clinical laboratory tests across department sections, monitoring testing procedures and interpreting results.
• Type and cross‑match blood and ensure donor-patient compatibility.
• Identify abnormal blood factors and unusual conditions in specimens.
• Perform hematology and coagulation procedures, identifying formed elements and coagulation factors.
• Isolate microorganisms from clinical specimens and perform antibiotic susceptibility tests.
• Analyze body fluids for chemistry (glucose, electrolytes, drugs, etc.).
• Record and review test results and relay to physicians or authorized staff.
• Assist in teaching students and orienting new employees in the lab section.
• Conduct quality control checks on equipment and reagents and calibrate/maintain equipment.
• Logs, labels specimens, transports samples to Pathology for testing.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, glassware and benches.
