Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a lab science such as chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or closely related field or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA standards.
• National certification by ASCP or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, or other recognized categorial cert.
• Eligible for national certification with ABHES/NAACLS-approved training or equivalent.
• Ability to operate equipment, perform tests and interpret results accurately.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens, confirms patient ID, validates orders and labels to prevent contamination.
• Performs complex clinical tests using methods such as EIA, IFA, Chemiluminescence, RIA, Electrophoresis, Immunoassay and Colorimetry.
• Interprets results, reviews unusual findings with higher-level staff, and reports to physicians or DOH as required.
• Maintains QA and safety guidelines and participates in instrument maintenance and QC procedures.
