Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a lab science or closely related field.
  • CLIA standards-compatible education/experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Receives specimens, confirms patient identification, validates orders and labels to prevent contamination.
  • Performs and interprets highly complex clinical tests using methods such as EIA, IFA, immunoassays, and electrophoresis.
  • Monitors QC, calibrates equipment, and maintains instruments; troubleshoots issues with the help of specialists.
  • Records and reports results to the ordering physician or health department per procedure.
  • Contributes to quality assurance programs and participates in training of staff and students.
