Job Responsibilities:

• Process specimens, prepare blood smears and body fluid slides, centrifuge specimens, streak microbiology plates, and prepare specimens for transport to reference labs.
• Understand laboratory methods, demonstrate knowledge of pathological processes, and correlate disease states with test results. Independently perform specimen processing and moderate complexity testing.
• Set up instruments, perform basic equipment maintenance, and conduct quality control and assurance data collection.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, communicating test results, typing procedures, data entry, filing, faxing, and inventory management.
• May perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and waived tests as assigned.
• Ensure all work complies with laboratory regulatory standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least one year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant or in a related role, with familiarity in a variety of lab tests (preferred).
