Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System in New York State is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to support the Total Lab Automation (TLA) initiative at the STL location. You will perform chemistry and hematology procedures, maintain instrumentation, and ensure quality control adherence.

The role requires a B.S. in Medical Technology or related field, NYS CLT license, and at least 1 year of experience, with ASCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Medical Technology or related Science field required.
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
• At least 1 year experience required.
• ASCP Certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks.
• Performs technical procedures in chemistry/hematology including coagulation and urinalysis.
• Performs maintenance on instrumentation/equipment and documents remedial actions.
• Performs QC and calibration procedures; records results and signs logs.
• Ensures QC/calibration procedures are completed and logged. Signs out records per shift.
• Maintains records per regulatory requirements (card files, requisitions, LIS data).
• Consults with Supervisor or Pathologist on important or out-of-range results; notes issues.
• Reviews Critical Test results and communicates with Nursing/Physician; logs communications.
• Prioritizes work to meet turnaround times; Notifies if delays occur.
• Assists in Inventory Control to ensure supplies and proper storage.
• Participates in other projects/duties assigned by Supervisor/Lab Management.
• Takes initiative to resolve instrument problems and find alternatives for testing.
• Uses available time to support department operations.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to patient age.
• Ability to perform Supervisor functions based on regulatory requirements.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
• Participates in performance improvement activities; maintains confidentiality and safety; participates in competency/proficiency testing.
• Meets regulatory/licensure/annual health assessment requirements and continuing education.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related Science field

NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license

ASCP Certification Preferred
