Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid NYSED-issued license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist.
• One year of full-time paid experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.

Responsibilities

• Oversees, trains, assigns work to personnel in a laboratory unit performing routine and complex tests.
• Performs routine and complex clinical laboratory tests and analyses on submitted specimens.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment; performs quality control procedures.
• Participates in quality control and proficiency testing required by regulatory agencies.
• Maintains laboratory records and prepares reports.
• Prepares laboratory media, reagents, and controls; ensures adequate supplies.
• May supervise subordinates and review their work; provides corrective action when needed.
• Testifies in court or other proceedings as an expert witness.
