Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team at our facility in Richmond, VA. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Responsibilities include specimen acceptance, routine and complex testing, instrument monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure quality patient care. A Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science and 1+ year of lab experience are required; MLS degree or ASCP/AMT certification preferred. We value accuracy, teamwork, and flexibility in a high-volume lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical/biological science, clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• High attention to detail and ability to work in a high-volume laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
