Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLS/CLS to provide accurate and timely laboratory testing for physicians. The role requires performing high-complexity tests on various specimens and ensuring quality and compliance.

The position emphasizes teamwork, patient care, and commitment to safety. Eligible candidates hold a BSCLS or equivalent and must achieve certification within 6 months.

A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered for offers accepted by July 31, 2026, with terms and conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related Biological Science with NAACLS/CLS certification pathway.
• Ability to work rotating weekends as required.
• On-call availability for emergencies.
• Preferred experience in Medical Laboratory/Clinical Lab settings.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests according to established procedures.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and validates lab equipment.
• Performs, documents quality control, and follows quality assurance guidelines.
• Assists in educating and training laboratory personnel, students, and residents.
• Maintains laboratory supplies and inventory.
• May perform specimen collection and phlebotomy where applicable.
• Ensures accreditation standards from CAP, TJ and other agencies are maintained.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
