Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine in Allentown, PA, seeks a qualified Medical Technologist to perform high, moderate, and waived testing in the Microbiology division, following SOPs and with minimal supervision. The role emphasizes independence, effective communication with physicians and lab staff, and adherence to quality control procedures.

You will prepare/collect specimens, validate results, participate in CSI and continuing education, and train new staff.

Qualifications

• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for high complexity testing.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to inquiries from customers/regulatory agencies with clear communication.
• Math skills including probabilities, statistics, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems and bench workflows.

Responsibilities

• Performs high, moderate, or waived testing as assigned, using standard SOPs.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions and documents troubleshooting.
• Confirms, verifies, and reports test results independently.
• Monitors QC results and participates in CSI and quality improvement activities.
• Prepares and collects specimens for analysis with proper handling and labeling.
• Provides orientation or training to new employees/students.
