Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to prioritize and complete testing procedures with accuracy to support rapid patient recovery. The role covers neonate to geriatric patients and requires adherence to Joint Commission and safety guidelines.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate's Degree in medical laboratory technology, Georgia licensure eligibility, and ASCP/NCA/AMT certification as applicable.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in medical laboratory technology or equivalent (2 years of study with required labs) is required.
• Georgia state licensure or eligibility requirements must be met.
• Certification: ASCP, NCA, or AMT preferred or as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and stat testing in established timeframes with minimal discrepancies.
• Maintains accurate records and documentation of all tests.
• Communicates questionable results to the section head or pathologist for review.
• Inputs data accurately into the Laboratory Information System.
• Contributes to quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education.
• Precepts MLT students as needed and completes continuing education requirements (80%+).
