Job summary

Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, NY is seeking a Medical Technologist for the Laboratory - Chemistry department at Rochester General Hospital. The position supports testing on blood, urine, and body fluids with a 40-hour work week, Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, and one 4th weekend rotation as needed.

You will follow approved procedures, adhere to turnaround times, and assist in physician diagnosis and treatment through accurate laboratory analyses.

Qualifications

• NYS Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist
• Provisional or limited permit holders must obtain full license within 24 months of hire
• ASCP certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs testing accurately and in a timely manner
• Interprets tests in the context of patient history and diagnosis
• Communicates stat and critical results to physicians and staff
• Performs QC, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instruments
• Prepares reagents and manages inventory with cost awareness
• Maintains computer systems for order entry, testing, results, and reporting
• Teaches in the Medical Laboratory Science program and clinical rotations
• Meets all regulatory laboratory requirements
• Performs additional duties as assigned by management
