Job summary

Rochester General Hospital, part of Rochester Regional Health, seeks a Medical Technologist to perform clinical laboratory analyses on blood, urine, body fluids and tissues with approved procedures and turnaround times.

The role requires NYS licensure; provisional permits must obtain full license within 24 months. ASCP certification is preferred. 40 hours/week with 8-hour shifts (12:00a - 8:30p) and weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYS license as Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Provisional or limited license holders must obtain full license within 24 months of hire.
• Preferred: ASCP certification.

Responsibilities

• Correctly performs testing in an accurate and timely manner.
• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history and diagnosis.
• Communicates stat and critical lab results and instrument issues to physicians and staff.
• Performs QC, routine and advanced maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments.
• Prepares reagents and maintains inventory with cost awareness.
• Utilizes computer systems for ordering, testing, results, and reporting.
• May teach in MLS programs and rotations.
• Meets regulatory lab requirements.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by manager.
