Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our blood bank team at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The role operates on a 2nd shift (4 ten-hour shifts, 10am–8:30pm) with every 3rd weekend rotation, focusing on specimen acceptability and testing accuracy. Minimum qualifications include an Associate degree in a chemical or biological science and 1+ year in Blood Bank; ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology is required.
• 1 year or more of experience in Blood Bank is required.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
