Job summary

UW Medicine in Seattle is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 2 for the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services Team at Harborview Medical Center. The CLT2 coordinates preanalytical workflow and supports send-out testing, while handling CLT1 duties like phlebotomy.

Evening shift, 100% FTE, Monday – Friday. Join a team ensuring proper sample handling, shipping, and billing for referral labs with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school graduation plus two years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
• MA-P certification with WA DoH or obtain within 180 days of start date.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in science.

Responsibilities

• Prepares packages and forwards send-out samples to the appropriate reference lab for testing.
• Communicates collection instructions to patients for specialized tests as needed.
• Maintains stocks of chemicals and collection kits for referral testing across UW Medicine and partner labs.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories and maintains organized files and reports.
• Maintains annual certifications for shipping hazardous materials and dry ice.
• Trains staff on reference lab send-out activities and problem resolution.
