Job summary

MedCentris Specialty Group seeks a Technical Consultant to provide technical and scientific oversight of moderate complexity testing in Tyler, TX. The role supports the laboratory with on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation and may be away from the lab as needed.

The position reports to the Laboratory Director; responsibilities include selecting appropriate test methods, verifying procedures, participating in proficiency programs, establishing quality control, addressing system

Qualifications

• MD or DO licensed to practice in the jurisdiction; board certification in pathology.
• Educational requirements include doctoral/master’s in relevant lab science or medical technology with training.
• Current licensure where required and ability to supervise moderate complexity testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation to the laboratory.
• Select appropriate test methodologies for clinical use of results.
• Verify test procedures and establish test performance characteristics (precision/accuracy).
• Enroll in and participate in an HHS-approved proficiency testing program.
• Establish a quality control program and performance benchmarks for analytic work.
• Resolve issues when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
• Ensure patient results are reported only after corrective actions are complete.
• Identify training needs and provide regular in-service training.
• Evaluate staff competency and conduct annual or semiannual reviews.
