Covenant Health is seeking a Laboratory Technical Specialist in Morristown, TN. • Tennessee State Medical Technologist licensure is required.

Responsibilities

• Selects test methodology appropriate for clinical use of test results in conjunction with Laboratory Manager and Medical Director.
• Prepares documentation for discipline or commendation for Lab Manager review.
• Verifies test procedures and establishes test performance characteristics (precision and accuracy).
• Enrolls in an approved proficiency testing program and maintains proficiency records.
• Establishes quality control programs with Laboratory Manager/Medical Director and maintains analytic performance limits.
• Implements and documents quality control activities, instrument calibrations and maintenance; prepares monthly QC reports.
• Ensures patient results are reported only after corrective actions and system is functioning properly.
• Identifies training needs and ensures in-service training for testing personnel.
• Resolves technical problems, troubleshoots equipment and documents actions.
• Evaluates competency of testing personnel and oversees training of staff and students.
• Performs procedures and annual review/revision of technical manuals with Medical Director approval.
• Provides clinical consultation and/or evaluation of laboratory tests and procedures.
