Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 1 year related experience or completion of an approved program.
• 12 months related health care or customer service experience in UR Medicine or similar settings.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Enters patient demographics and insurance information accurately into the LIS and EMR.
• Logs patient and test information into the LIS and verifies criteria.
• Receives pre-accessioned specimens and reconciles batch manifests.
• Identifies specialized testing requests and prioritizes specimens for turnaround time.
• Prepares specimens for analysis and ensures specimen integrity.
• Distributes specimens to appropriate departments for prompt analysis.
• Monitors automation line and determines if manual intervention is needed.
• Handles inquiries from providers and internal staff; routes appropriately.
• Trains other laboratory personnel as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
