Job summary

Ochsner is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and specialized laboratory testing, quality control, and instrument maintenance in a clinical setting.

The role requires a Bachelor's in medical technology or a related science, a current state license (or trainee path) and certification within 90 days of hire, with ASCP/AMT/AAB generalist certification required within 90 days. Strong data entry and professional communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or related field.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license (or Generalist trainee permit) and must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire; other center-specific certifications may apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and specialized laboratory testing accurately within established time frames.
• Analyzes and records quality control and instrument maintenance data; escalates when results are out of control and documents corrective action.
• Maintains regulatory compliance; follows safety guidelines and accreditation standards; participates in proficiency testing.
• Supports performance improvement by data collection/analysis and assists with inventory management of supplies and reagents.
• Adapts procedures for patient populations and maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as assigned and adheres to all policies and standards.
