Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to perform complex laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology and more, delivering accurate, timely results for patient care.

You will operate and maintain instruments, perform calibration and quality control, interpret data, and report results with compliance to regulatory standards, collaborating with caregivers to support fast clinical decisions and improved outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens adhering to SOPs to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Provides patient care through clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of caregivers of critical values.
• Ensures that major automated equipment is operational by performing calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting; contacts vendor for assistance or repair.
• Performs calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests are within parameters.
• Performs proficiency testing and reviews results with laboratory leaders.
• Assists in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for validation of new procedures and equipment.
