Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital Lexington in Kentucky is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Technologist to perform complex laboratory tests and ensure accurate, timely results vital for patient diagnosis and treatment.

You will analyze specimens, operate/maintain instruments, and provide data for clinical decisions, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. Strong technical proficiency and meticulous attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chem, Phys or Bio, and ASCP, NCA or HHS cert

Responsibilities

Direct observations of routine patient test performance, including patient identification and preparation; and specimen collection handling, processing and testing.
Monitoring the recording and reporting of test results, including reporting critical results.
Review of intermediate test results or worksheets, quality control records, proficiency testing results, and preventive maintenance records.
Maintains equipment to ensure accurate, consistent results in the performance of tests.
Performs quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of test results.
Analyses patient samples according to approved standards of testing.
Participates in continuing education programs for the upgrade of educational experience.
Assist in purchasing duties, and supply inventory.
