Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Nampa, ID is seeking a part-time MED LAB SCIENTIST/CLINICAL LAB SCIENTIST for its South Lab PRN. The role involves rotating through Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro and Speciality Chemistry, performing and reviewing QC, and maintaining equipment per regulatory standards.

You will verify specimen integrity, perform a range of testing procedures, and report results with accuracy while prioritizing workload and supporting other departments as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field is required.
• Certification as MT/MLS/CLS or equivalent by ASCP or AMT, or registry eligible within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro and Speciality Chemistry.
• Perform, record, and review scheduled QC and take corrective action when data is out of limits.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; document instrument performance.
• Verify specimen labeling and integrity before testing; perform low to high complexity testing per protocols.
• Report results accurately and promptly; communicate critical results per protocol.
• Prioritize work for maximum efficiency and assist other areas as needed.
• May perform phlebotomy and monitor supply inventory; supervise clinical laboratory assistants.

Education

Bachelor's Degree Required

ASCP/AMT certification or registry eligible
