Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Texas is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, and reporting results. The role involves QC, instrument operation/maintenance, and potential phlebotomy and patient-oriented tasks as needed.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in medical lab science or equivalent, and certification with MT/MLS/CLS/MLT.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from recognized boards is required or equivalent.
Experience requirement: NAACLS-approved program graduates or 1 year clinical lab rotation within last 5 years.

Responsibilities

Performs routine and complex lab procedures in assigned section.
Operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation.
Cross-trains to other lab sections as needed.
Ensures quality control procedures are properly followed in the lab.
Calculates, verifies and reports results using LIS.
Handles specimen collection and processing with care for pediatric samples when required.
Participates in developing/testing new procedures and protocols.
Adheres to CHRISTUS Health core values and compliance policies.
