Qualifications

• Minimum five years in an acute care facility laboratory across 2–3 sections or seven+ years across 1–2 sections.
• Promotion path from CLS-II to CLS-III based on performance.
• Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with physicians, nurses, phlebotomists and other health professionals to resolve problems with specimen collection and reporting.
• Consults with CLS, Supervisors, Administrative Director of Laboratory Services, Medical Director of Laboratory Services, or Pathologists for policy clarification.
• Specimen processing and testing within established timelines.
• Receives, processes and tests patient samples.
• Performs routine and specialized procedures following SOPs.
• Quality control and proficiency testing.
• Documents results of proficiency test samples and follows corrective actions when needed.
