Job summary

Dignity Health - Mercy Hospital Bakersfield seeks a Clinical Lab Scientist to perform complex laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry and microbiology, ensuring accurate and timely results for patient care. You will operate and maintain instruments, analyze specimens, and contribute to data reporting.

You must have a California CLS license and be capable of English communication; ASCP certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• CA Clinical Lab Scientist license required.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.
• One year acute care hospital experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.
• Ability to maintain accuracy under pressure and comply with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with physicians, nurses, phlebotomists and other staff to resolve specimen issues.
• Operates lab computer system according to department manuals.
• Performs complex tests across hematology, chemistry and microbiology.
• Conducts quality control and ensures regulatory adherence.
• Participates in CLS teaching programs for students.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
