Job summary

Novant Health in Wilmington, NC seeks a Laboratory Scientist to perform analytical evaluation of blood and body fluids, execute routine laboratory procedures, and report results.

You will contribute to quality control, assist in evaluating new techniques, train staff on equipment, and work with medical teams to ensure accurate test reporting.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field and ASCP/AMT certification; one year of lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or biological/chemical science; NAACLS MT program preferred
• If graduated before 1987, two-year MT certification recognized
• ASCP or AMT scientist certification required
• New graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Analytical evaluation of blood and body fluids
• Perform all laboratory procedures including quality control, specimen collection, processing, analysis and reporting
• Advise and assist in orientation and training of personnel on equipment and software
• Assist in evaluation of new/modified techniques when required
• Develop and maintain department quality assurance and communicate results to medical staff
